PUBLICATION POLICY
Privacy, without the fog.
Who this policy covers
OpenClaw Academy is an independent OpenClaw publication and is not operated by or officially affiliated with the OpenClaw project. This policy covers openclaw.academy and the publication's email subscription forms.
This is a practical description of our current data handling. It is not a substitute for rights you have under applicable law, including the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Information we collect
Email subscriptions
If you subscribe to the Operator Brief, we collect the email address you submit, the form placement used to subscribe and the subscription timestamp. We do not ask for payment details through the publication.
Analytics and technical records
Google Analytics is loaded using Google Consent Mode. Analytics storage defaults to denied and is enabled only if you allow analytics cookies. Advertising storage, ad user data and ad personalisation remain denied regardless of your choice. With analytics consent, Google Analytics may store identifiers and report page views, approximate location, device information, referral source, newsletter conversions and outbound commercial-link clicks.
Cloudflare may process IP addresses, request timestamps, user agents and security signals as part of hosting, abuse prevention and normal server logging.
Why we use it
- Send publications you requested and manage unsubscribes.
- Measure which reporting, guides and subscription placements are useful.
- Measure aggregate sponsor and commercial-link performance without selling subscriber addresses.
- Keep the service reliable, investigate abuse and protect forms and infrastructure.
We do not sell or rent subscriber email addresses.
Cookies and local storage
_ga and related Google Analytics storage may be used only after consent.cookie_consent records your banner choice in local storage.Rejecting analytics cookies keeps analytics storage denied. Affiliate destinations may use their own cookies after you leave this site; their policies apply on their domains.
Where information is processed
- CloudflarePages hosting, D1 subscription storage, security and request processing.
- Google AnalyticsConsent-controlled publication analytics and conversion measurement.
These providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Data may be processed outside New Zealand as part of their global services.
Retention and security
Subscriber records are retained while you remain subscribed and for a limited period needed to process removal, suppression and abuse-prevention requests. Analytics retention follows the configured Google Analytics settings. Hosting logs are retained according to Cloudflare's service configuration.
We use reasonable technical controls, but no internet service can promise absolute security.
Your choices and rights
- Use the unsubscribe mechanism in an email or contact us to stop publication emails.
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion where applicable.
- Reject analytics cookies through the site banner.

Changes
We will update the date on this page when the policy materially changes. We will not quietly turn a newsletter subscription into permission to sell your address.
